Translation Turnaround Times

How long does it take to translate my document?

Turnaround times highly depend on the volume of the text (i.e. number of words in it) and its difficulty (for instance, it takes a bit less to translate a business letter than the description of the uranium enrichment process) and the source text format (how much formatting is needed).

We can give some general information:

The average daily translation volume is around 2000 words per translator. This applies to rough translations. If you also require proofreading you should count approximately an additional 50% in the turnaround time.

Based on this, if you have a 15,000-word long text the normal turnaround time would be about 7 business days. If the translation is very urgent then for a surcharge we can deliver the translation sooner than that (the translation process will also continue through the weekend, which means that we can reduce 7 business days to 5 or 4 business days).

The quantity that can be translated highly depends on the language combination as well (the turnaround time is obviously longer in case of rare or exotic languages) and on individual performances. Many of our translators have multi-decade experience, so they can translate 2 or 3 times more than the average daily quantity.

When you have a very voluminous document to be translated on a short notice, we can solve your problem by giving the text to a team of two to three translators, and by continuously controlling the translation process, harmonizing the teamwork, creating glossaries and sharing translation memories in order to guarantee the quality of the output.
